Electrostimulation - what is it and what is it good for?
An electrostimulation machine looks like a tiny set of jumper cables that are placed on the ends of regular acupuncture needles in order to deliver a gentle and continuous electric current. Frequency and intensity is adjusted according to treatment goals and plan. The sensation is very subtle and not unpleasant. The muscles that are targeted by the needles contract and are stimulated into releasing their painful holding patterns and allowing for a reset, providing pain relief and increased blood flow. Needling with stimulation is an enhanced treatment, intended to remove any blockages of energy, qi and blood and increase their smooth flow.
A regular acupuncture treatment is simply amplified with the use of electrostimulation and results are often achieved sooner compared to just using acupuncture needles on their own.
