What is Cupping and why it's Beneficial
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist places special cups on the skin to create suction. Cupping dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures.
Cupping has been used to treat a wide variety of conditions. It can be particularly effective at
easing conditions that cause muscle aches and pains. The cups can also be applied to major
acupressure points to effectively treat digestive issues, skin issues and respiratory conditions.
- Reduced pain and inflammation
- Improved blood flow
- Relaxation, well being and deep tissue massage
- Facilitates the healing process and strengthens the immune system
Cupping is a low-risk therapy. The side effects will typically occur during the treatment or
immediately after. Lightheadedness or dizziness, sweating or nausea may be experienced.
Cupping can leave circular marks on the skin where the cups were placed. Mild bruising or other marks usually go away within 10 days of the session.
Cupping is offered by RMT's, Angel Riccio and Lisa Falla as an add-on treatment. Please call the clinic for more information and to book an appointment.
